What is push notification and how it works?

Push Notifications can be interpreted as a message that is “pushed” to UI (user interface) from backend applications or servers, e.g. mobile devices and desktop applications.
What is Push Notification?
A push notification is an alert that shows up on a mobile phone, desktops, and laptops.
App advertisers can at any time send push notifications or online service pushes notification and consumers do not need to use their apps to get them.
Push notification may do a variety of things; for example, they may display the scores of the most recent games, get a client to make the desired move, such as downloading a voucher or reminding a client about a case, such as a flash sale.
Push notifications look like instant SMS messages and smartphone updates but only target clients that have activated your program. Each mobile device offers support for pushing updates such as iOS, Fire OS, Android, Windows, and BlackBerry, all of which have their particularities.

“A common scenario of push notification is the client application pops up a message in front of the application’s user information, along with the alert sounds. The notification could also be coupled with images and hypertext links in some cases. Via interacting with the push notification it usually brings up the client applications to the front”
Why are they used?
Push notifications offer comfort and value for device users such as:
Sports scores and news right on their lock screen
Services updates such as traffic, weather, and ski snow alert
Flight check-in, updates, and link details
Push notifications are a way to communicate directly to a user for device publishers. These are not trapped in spam filters or lost in an inbox — levels of click-through can be twice as high as text. They can also remind users that they can use an app, whether the app is available or not. Also, they can be used to guide acts like:
Improving customer experience
Converting new device users to existing customers
Sending transactional receipts automatically
Follow applications on other marketing platforms, such as social networks
How do push notifications work?
Operating system push notification service (OSPNS) – Mobile operating system (OS) has its app, including iOS, Android, Windows, Fire OS, and BlackBerry.
App publisher– The software developer allows for an OSPNS for their software. The developer then uploads the app into the app store.
Client app– It is an application unique to OS, mounted on the computer of a user. It gets updates coming in.
