Steps to Ensure Successful Robotic Integration

Thu, 09 Dec 2021

The importance of robotic integration in automation cannot be overstated. The integration of robotic systems is critical to the success of the overall process. The integration process determines whether automated systems succeed or fail, including their capacity to satisfy return on investment (ROI) and productivity targets. As a result, it's critical to hire a seasoned integrator with a track record of success. Robotic integration involves the placement of robotic systems in strategic locations to perform automated operations. Robotic systems integrators examine a company's production, material handling, shipping, or inspection lines to identify areas for improvement and then install automation technologies in those areas.

6 Steps for a Successful Integration

·        Define success in terms of numbers. It will be difficult to determine whether the integration was a success without evaluating quantitative metrics such as ROI or productivity. The integrator will also help the organization create ambitious but achievable objectives.

·        Documentation evaluation. Early in the process, any respectable integrator will ask for 3D models, material specifications and notes, machine manuals, and so on. This is a critical step in the development of a robotic automation system, and the integrator must play a significant role in this process.

·        Proof of concept in virtual form. The integrator must demonstrate proof of concept by providing virtual demos after the parts have been examined and the automation system has been established. These should, in theory, also serve as offline programming for all systems.

·        The integrator must build, install, and test all automation systems once the concept has been demonstrated and accepted. Prior to the installation's completion, they must demonstrate proper operation.

·        After the robot is installed, the integration process does not end. Personnel must be trained on how to operate the robot safely and how to optimize it to increase production in numerous scenarios. This training will be overseen by a competent integrator.

·        Following training and system installation, a reputable robot integrator will provide support via phone calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week for any maintenance or technical concerns, as well as any reintegration or system documentation needs.
